Biography

Who made everyone laugh Laughed at them until they went crazy. This is his story.  Birth name Satya Prakash Srivastava. Yes, SP Srivastava who later became Raju Srivastava. Raju Srivastava was born on 25 December 1963. His father Ramesh Chand Srivastava was very famous by the name of Balai Kaka. He was a great poet.

And Ramesh Chand Srivastava aka Balai Kaka often recited poems at poetry gatherings in Kanpur.  Since childhood, Raju Srivastava loved to talk and walk.  He often made people laugh.  But his dream of becoming a professional comedian was far from over. Often Raju Srivastava used to imitate his teachers.  Sometimes he was even asked to do commentary for school cricket matches. 

Slowly this interest flourished and soon Raju Srivastava was invited to birthdays and parties in Kanpur so that he could have some fun. Raju Srivastava used to have fun and was often late. And then he would get scolded by his mother. Since his father was a poet himself, he personally recognized Raju’s talent.  But his mother protested. He said be educated, do a job.  Become IPS, IAS and make your name.

But after a long struggle no one came to know that Raju Srivastava will become the name that will always make people laugh.  Raju Srivastava’s life changed after watching the film ‘Sholay’.  The character of Jai in ‘Sholay’ was so impressed by Amitabh Bachchan that he started imitating him.  Later he made several skits based on the film ‘Sholay’. 

And those skits made everyone laugh a lot.  For Rs 50, Raju Srivastava explained that his skill could become a profession later.  He attended a function, imitated people, made him laugh and a gentleman gave him 50 rupees.  Raju Srivastava could not understand whether 50 rupees were expected to be kept or it was given to him.When he asked, 

the person said that this is your wage. You entertained us a lot here. Keep 50 rupees.  There Raju understood that it could become a profession later on.  Raju Srivastava had become quite famous in the city of Kanpur.  And after that he thought he would continue doing stage shows like this in Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Bhali and Unnaam, I will become famous.

 But how far will I go after that?  And then he decided to come to Mumbai. In 1982, he stepped into Mumbai.  The days of his struggle were very difficult.  But his mind was open. As soon as he arrived, he tried to join the local orchestra.  He used to imitate Amitabh Bachchan there.  And he was often introduced as Junior Amitabh. He was seen in few movies in the 80s.  

Especially ‘Tezaab’ and ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’.  He got only small roles in films.  and light shows on television.  With stage shows, small roles in films and light work on TV, Raju Srivastava honed his skills to such an extent that when the comedy reality show ‘The Great Indian Laughter Show’ was aired, he made everyone sit. He changed the world of comedy.

The TV scene changed in such a way that in future every TV channel started at least one comedy show.  Although Raju Srivastava was the second runner up in this competition, but Raju was at the forefront in winning hearts.  Stage shows, private celebrations, both locally and abroad.  Raju Srivastava made everyone laugh with his talent. A little son, a little dance.
